All of my photos are of the actual items you will get, because I never use stock photos!

Here is a great 1950s souvenir of The Beautiful Luray Caverns in Virginia. This is a 24-page booklet with seven color photos, 10 black-and-white photos, a map and lots of small line drawings. It measures 7.5 inches wide by 5 inches tall, and comes with a printed mailing envelope that is 8.25 inches wide by 5.5 inches tall.

There is no copyright date, but the text inside refers to how the caverns were discovered "75 years ago" in 1878, which would mean it was written in 1953. Text on the inside back cover about "Hours and Terms of Admission" notes that the prices are effective "April 1st, 1954," so I assume that is when the booklet was actually printed. (I have no idea how long admission remained the same price, however -- which was a ridiculously reasonable $1.50 for adults and 75 cents for kids.)

Interestingly, another section of the text says that "as many copies of this interesting and instructive booklet as may be required" would be sent at "absolutely no charge" to established schools or colleges, for distribution to pupils. It apparently also was sold in the attraction's gift shop, but there is no price on it.

Condition: Although still intact and complete, I would rate this as "Good" condition (instead of "Very Good" or "Like New") because it shows some minor evidence of handling (small impressions on the first three pages, the kind made by a thumb), has some tiny chips missing from the bottom edge of the last page, and has what is either a printing flaw, red marker or lipstick (!) at the top right corner of the big two-page color centerspread (see close-up photo). Also, there are tears at the top and bottom of the envelope's flap, and the envelope shows some minor impressions.

Other sellers would go ahead and call it "Very Good" (especially because the booklet is nicer than the envelope), but I'm picky.
