Antique Circa 1780
shell and gilt pair cased Verge fusee pocket watch in working order. The dial
is white enamel with black Roman numerals and black beetle and poker hands. The
movement is a chain driven fusee with verge escapement Fire gilt plates
with square pillars decorated cock over a plain steel balance with silver round
regulator. It has a good swinging
balance and fusee chain and is in working order running the full length of its
chain keeping fair verge time for a watch of 250 years + old. The movement is
marked R Thompson London and the number 3770. The gilding is a little rubbed
and the shell to its pair case has a chip to the side and bits missing around
its bezel please see photos. The dial and dial glass are clean and clear. Both
cases are clean and bright and have worn as to their age with all the covers
closing nice and tight. The watch measures 39mm excluding crown and its pair
case 48mm.
