NORTH AMERICAN
NATIVE GOLD & QUARTZ from CALIFORNIA'S MOTHER LODE

Photos are enlarged representations of offered item.   Ruler, if shown, is 1/4" wide (actual size). A U.S. dime (10 cent piece) measures 17.5 mm in diameter.

Featured lot consists of small 'pickers' from the California goldfields. Some are mostly quartz, others quite rich, but every piece shows gold. Combined, they weigh a total of 12 Grains Troy, i.e. (.77 gram). Not large by any means, 2 to 4 mm long on average, and a poor investment ('cos you're not buying bullion); yet, fans of Au in it's raw, natural state (as found in nature) should enjoy this small lot of high-grade ore samples.

A
s owner/mgr. at Gold of Eldorado's, I actively mined for 18+ years. Beginning long ago, in a past life, perhaps, something in the golden mystique of this exotic metal attracted me to it. Searching for native placer (gold), working with it in different forms, and marketing became a life-way. If, like myself, you're a big fan of gold, there's a lot to see here at Gold of Eldorado.

WATER WHERE IT USUALLY AIN'T
It's mighty gneiss to be out mining and suddenly find running water where it usually ain't. One year, our crew of prospector buddies were sniping the Burro Creek placers near Bagdad. Yep, there's a Bagdad in Arizona. A big winter storm blew through and man, did those gulleys ever run. I hightailed it up north from Quartzsite, unlimbered my green Le Trap, ran some tests, and started sluicing surface gravels in the main wash. Ordinarily, a guy finds diddly in surface dirt, but not this time. The claim was a big-time anomaly, so we ganged up on it, i.e. me, Mark, T-Bone, and Bedrock Bob. It was beautiful. Judging from how much gold our crew pulled, the old timers must have been swimming in gold. In 5 days, I sluiced 1.5 oz in beautiful little nuggies and wire gold. 'Bedrock' got a sweet half ouncer I wrapped in gold wire. Those were fun times. A young Twin Falls friend, after replacing his beat up B&S with my 11 H.P. Honda, fired up a 5" dredge. Due to the new liquid condition of local washes, he wound up dredging normally dry placers for better than a month. Man, that was some beautiful jewelry-grade gold he pulled. Some of it, I bought and converted into jewelry. That seems like a long time ago, back in my itinerant mining/rustic jeweler days.

Who doesn't get a kick out of the 'No Fishing' sign posted on the Hassayampa River bridge near Wickenburg. That must have been something dreamed up by the spirit of Dick Wick Hall, Arizona humorist, who also concocted 'Where She Danced' in Salome.

Be mighty careful out there. She's warming up. The shaketails are coming out from the shadows.

Thanks for checking out my store.
