Britannia struck in 999Ag Silver from SS Gairsoppa. Recovered from deep below the surface of the sea.

On February 17th 1941 she was Torpedoed by a German U-Boat off the coast of Ireland.

She remained at the bottom of the sea until the wreck was discovered in  2011, her precious cargo was eventually recovered.

Hence this wonderful coin.
