Elegant vintage Japanese silk kimono fabric

Photo 1 shows the "whole picture" of the item, other photos show small sections of the fabric or info on the design.

Approximate size: 35.5x106cm

Material: Silk.

The particular type of silk is called chirimen, using traditional Japanese weaving technique. Chirimen fabric is a silk crepe, the ultimate luxury fabric for kimono.

If you'd like to know more about the black fabric, please see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fco6IjKRhU&t=188s

It's from a vintage silk kuro-tomesode kimono owned by my wife. Last photo shows the original kimono, for information only (the listing is for a fabric rather than the whole dress). There's a white family crest, which is only present in formal kimono.

For your information, kuro-tomesode is the most formal type of kimono worn by married women in Japan (equivalent of an evening dress in the western sense), where the main background is black and only the bottom half is decorated with various designs. Such formal kimono is always made of quality silk.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a vintage fabric, so there may be some imperfections (there's small cut near the edge). The overall condition is very good.

Sorry no returns.
