This is a distortion pedal principally aimed at producing aggressive, high gain distortion. However, it does much more than this. It is hugely versatile in the sounds it can produce, going from light crunchy overdrive, through vintage fuzzy sounds to full-on huge biting modern metal distortion.
It has a toggle switch allowing 3 distortion modes.
Hooch - an overdriven tube amp tone.
Bourbon - a modern high gain distortion.
Scotch - a vintage style high gain distortion.
To be honest, hooch and bourbon sound very similar and to my taste scotch gives the better warmer sound.
Within these modes the controls are all very effective with wide ranges. The tone control, unlike many, has a good sweep allowing a variety of sounds from warm and full through scooped to cutting clear highs.
On all settings it has excellent sound quality, remaining clear and cutting and never getting overly mushy, even when pushed
