The Book was most recently purchased from Fonsie Mealy’s auction house who auctioned off the remainder of Dr. Philip Murray’s extensive book collection. Murray was an avid collector and got to be friends with McCarthy over the years, with the reclusive author even coming to visit in Ireland. Murray was a general practitioner in County Sligo, Ireland. Full letter of provenance. Book in VG or slightly better, clean internally and tightly bound. Sharp corners with brier fixing to text block. Jacket in VG, price clipped example, trace rubbing, soiling and a couple closed tears. Trace edge west. A fabulous example with an early McCarthy signature and accompanying documentation.
