HISTORY: I am a long time Hot Wheels prototype collector with an active collecting history dating back to the early 80's. I have spent the last 25-30 years collecting the highest quality investment cars with specific concentration on rare employee, proto, pre-production and prototype castings. I have purchased cars from many well known
sources and in 2001 I was able to acquire the personal collection of long time Mattel employee and department manager Bruce Baur. Bruce was a prolific designer with more than 20 years at Mattel and is credited with some of the most iconic Hot Wheels castings of all time. Designs include: Baur's Beasts, Way 2 Fast, Rigor Motor, Guitar Car, Twin Mill II, Power Pipes and many more. Bruce was also a leader and prolific designer and contributor to the 100% Hot Wheels Collectible Line.

TERMINOLOGY: All sorts of "key" words are used and perhaps over used to describe collectible items these days. I use the terms that I think are appropriate for what I am listing. I am NOT an expert of anything. Please view photos and ask questions if you have them. For Hot Wheels specifically: "Barbie components", "Barbie plastic", "pink Barbie" and "Barbie skins" among other terms typically refer to the blue, pink, and sometime green plastic used in the pre-production process. All of these terms originated from the "pink Barbie plastic" because it is speculated that Mattel uses the same plastic in prototype Hot Wheels as they do in the actual production of the Barbie doll.
