Vintage Antique? Oak Finger Joint Military Equipment Radio Ammo Box Wood Crate

This is a old box made of oak. It is definitely vintage and possibly antique. It is extremely well made. The handle folds out of an inset space so that it is perfect flat. The latch is a an ingenious closure which is designed to lay flat. It is a button that when pressed, releases the latch from the inside. When the handle is in use, this latch is locked. This was likely so that when the box was being carried, the lid couldnt accidentally pop open. Based on the quality of the finger joints and all around strong construction I would guess that this type of box was used for some kind of industrial or military instrument storage that was put back into the box after use. Possibly radio equipment, delicate scale equipment, ammo, rockets, come to mind. It looks like it may have been painted at one point.
