Ensoniq DP/4+ w/ damaged display board - not necessarily beyond repair for someone with decent electronic skills .
Basically the previous owner has swapped out the rotary encoder , it arrived to me barely functioning skipping values / going backward etc - definate scorch marks around the encoder before i even started - though i dare say i've made it worse getting the old encoder out & damaged at least two of the traces coming out of the three terminals at the base of the encoder .
I tried to bypass the traces myself , though this didn't work , i've left the wires soldered on there as they may be of use to the new owner .
So..worst case scenario is you'll need a new display board ( in which case ebay.com is your best bet- at least a couple of ensoniq spare part dealers on there ) .
However i'm sure someone with the requisite skills could salvage this one , additionally it looks like the display itself is recieving incorrect voltage when powered up as there are flickers on an inconsistent brightness to parts of the characters.
Sound wise seemed ok , a little noisy maybe but nothing excessive - but clearly it can't be programmed at all without the encoder so couldn't check it out properly.
Beyond that the fascia is in good condition , the rotary dial sticks out too far ( though that's the least of the problems realting to that currently ) - some rack rash , couple of minor dents in the case - nothing major .
