Hello. This item comes rooted or as a cutting depending on availability. Cuttings will sometimes be larger and rooted will weigh more due to the roots. Once delivered simply stick in soil. I prefer not to water mine right away. Instead I let the cactus settle for a few days depending on temperature. My cactus are grown in pots. We are zone 8. So outside for summer and indoors with grow lights during winter. Can also be grown by a bright window. If grown in pots it is important to move to bigger pots as needed. This cactus is a fast grower. Drainage is very important.
