I am selling a working Commodore C1551 floppy disk drive for the Commodore 264 series 8-bit computers (C16, C116, Plus/4).

The drive mechanism is not original, it was transplanted from a working Commodore 1541 disk drive (it is 100% plug & play compatible with the 1551). The rest of the drive is original 1551, including the case, the power supply, the controller board PCB, the computer interface.

The drive was tested on a Commodore 16 and Commodore Plus/4 and it is 100% working. The Alps drive mechanism has been gently cleaned and lubricated - and it is a lot more reliable than the original Mitsumi one. The floppy drive has been cleaned inside and out.

The drive has a drive number selector switch installed (to choose between ID 8 and 9), I currently placed it inside the drive, but it can be installed via a small hole in the case for external access.

The external case has some scratches, the top part of the case has a small piece missing from one of the front corners and two small holes drilled in the back (now covered with stickers). The bottom part of the case had several big cracks, particularly on the side, that have all been repaired with a special plastic glue that "melts" the plastic together.

This drive is not a collector's item but it looks OK, it works perfectly, and it is ideal for someone who just wants a working 1551 drive without paying a crazy price.

The drive will be safely packed and sent as a tracked, registered and insured parcel, with a head protector inside the drive.

EU sale only.
