This is a small wooden box constructed with small nails, similar to those used to make Shaker boxes. The box is a trapezoid shape and measures 9 inches across at the top, and 6 inches across at the bottom. It is 7 inches deep at the top and 4 inches deep at the bottom. It is 5 inches tall.  Features wooden pins that hinge on both sides of the box, and includes two lids.  This box may have been used for sewing or mending.  As this is an old piece, there are two areas that show some damage.  One of the wooden pin/hinges is exposed due to some missing wood. The opening on that side also shows a corner a small amount of chipped wood.  All in all though, this is a very unique, primitive item. From a smoke free home. Thank you for looking and bidding!
