From the research I have gathered the graphics on the box were stolen or borrowed from a display poster for the Official Pac-Man Phone it was given as a prize at The Worlds Largest Pac-Man Tournament 1982 in Milwaukee.

The poster was displayed & shown on National Television.

There is a picture of the poster and original phone but they are not included in this sale they are for comparison only.

As we all know the original Pac-Man phone box graphics are a lot different compared to it's original design.

It also shows the box on the back of the poster.

Additional  Information:

The Toronto Star on October 22, 1982 had featured this phone in an article.

Meaning it was released for Christmas of 1982.

The photo was taken by Bob Olsen who unfortunately passed away in 2022.

The article is Available at the Toronto Canada Libraries Digital Archives.

The article links are featured  below.

I have included a screenshot of the extremely scarce  bit of info that is available.

Please look for yourself if you can find any info please let me know.

The picture from the paper is the black & white one.

It comes in its original box, which is in beautiful condition making it an amazing item for  any serious collector.

The character's name was originally written in English as "Puck-Man", but when Namco localized the game for the United States they changed it to "Pac-Man", fearing that vandals would change the P in "Puck" to an F.

Which is why this is called Pick-Me.

Puck-Man Phone

Pick-Me Phone

What a marketing ploy, any parent that is new to Pac-Man especially in the early 80's would have seen this and wouldn't have known the difference it's the same shape color and similar spellings.
