A clean, lightly used Ohio Tool Co plane made for the E.C. Simmons Hardware Company.

Fast shipping same day as payment is rec’d

The plane was recently obtained from a sale, shows well cared for, exact age is unknown.

The plane has been completely dismantled, and all parts cleaned. The wood is solid and has been completely sanded and refinished close to the original finish color. The finished metal parts were stripped, cleaned, and repainted black.

I believe this is a early wood plane, sold thru the E.C. Simmons Hardware Company out of St. Louis, I believe the plane was the transitional series made by Ohio Tool Company in the 1910’s, for the E.C. Simmons Hardware Company under the KEEN KUTTER SERIES.

This plane is the E.C. Simmons KK23 model, smooth bottom, as seen from the 1912 E. C. Simmons trade catalog.

The plane is embossed on the front base K5 1/2. The lever cap, and the lateral adjusting lever have no ID markings.

The side base and the iron is stamped with the E C. Simmons Hardware Company wedge logo trade mark, with ST. LOUIS USA (the earlier logo from Ohio tool co.).

The plane is 9” long, and 2 3/8” wide, the blade is 1 3/4” wide and 7 1/16” long.

The plane has the 1” diameter brass adjustment knob.

The plane is in good condition for the era,…..way back when someone brazed welded a very small crack in the side underneath—appears very good and tight----see marked pic for location,…….…., The plane has been completely dismantled, and all parts cleaned. The wood is solid and has been completely sanded and refinished close to the original finish color…….. The finished metal parts were stripped, cleaned, and repainted black…….As with the vintage of the plane there are a few dings, a few surface scratches, some minor pitting spots and some discoloration, all noted from the photos.

The plane is SOLD AS IS with NO RESERVE. e-mail questions before bidding
