Antique Victorian Quarter Sawn Oak Wood Carved Face Folk Chair Open Mouth Rare

We are offering an antique Folk Art oak chair, measuring about 38.5” tall, 16” wide, and 18” deep, with a 22” chair back and 15.25” deep seat. Floor to top of seat 17" high.

This piece is a lovely example of fanciful Victorian style, with barley twist  legs and the entire chair back carved into the face of a mustached man. Could be German. The open mouth expression is a playful evocation of a face motif that was popular at the time. The chair is solid quarter sawn oak heavy and sturdy.

This piece is the perfect addition to any collection.


Very good condition with some expected age-related wear. Some white residue here and there There is a small chipped area on one of the front legs. Please inspect the pictures carefully, as they are an extension of our written description.
