1857 $5 The Merchants' Bank of South Carolina at Cheraw note.

This bank operated from 1835 until it failed in 1865. 

This colorful note features a Vignette of Liberty and a Revolutionary War era Soldier flanking the Great Seal of South Carolina while Fame blows a horn in the background. On the far left, Calhoun stands in a robe holding a scroll that reads "Truth, Justice, and the Constitution". On the lower right, an early train passes with ships in the distance.

This note grades Very Fine with some pinholes.
