KERRIGAN, JACK W. - SILENT FILM ACTOR. How I Became A Successful Moving Picture Star. Hollywood: Kellow & Brown, 1914. First Edition. Signed by J.W. Kerrigan on the first blank, plus with a signed note laid in presenting the book. Copy number 519 of 1000 numbered copies. The story of how Kerrigan became one of the early important film stars. Charmingly printed and illustrated. Despite the number of copies printed, very few have survived. Kerrigan was one of the most popular leading men of the silent era. He started in 1909 and was soon billed as “The Gibson Man” as he was considered as handsome as a “Gibson Girl” was beautiful. Of his hundreds of films, he is best remembered for his leading role in James Cruze’s epic of the West, The Covered Wagon. Shortly after finishing this film he retired from the screen at the height of his fame. Fine in wrappers.
