Vintage Burmese parasol with silver handle, dyed and handpainted fabric, Pathein (Burma), 1st half of 20th century

A beautiful vintage Burmese parasol with silver handle, dyed and hand-painted fabric with flowers and scenes of rural life, main body wood, branch and supporting arms bamboo (Tharaphu).
With protective cover (zinc), packed in an cotton bag. Cover with label in Burmese and English: Aya Kywai's umbrella shop (granddaughter of the famous umbrella maker U Kyauk Lone), Pathein.

Even worn, it’s a beautiful rare example of a complete set with parasol and covers from the famous Pathein region.

condition: worn, small cuts, where the textile has been fixed to the branches roughly sewed, the metal tube worn, the cotton covers badly worn with major losses, paintings in good condition, fresh and with bright colours
