For sale here is my REVOX G36 reel to reel player. It has the Philips Miniwatt and the Amperex 12AT7 vacuum tubes. These are considered the very best by audiophiles, for their involving natural sound. They have the superior sound quality and performance that only vintage tubes can produce.

The deck plays, records, fast forwards and it rewinds. I have tried to illustrate the various functions with the short video in the ad. All of the lights work as well. The tape counter works intermittently. These are prone to failing due to the plastic pieces in the mechanism becoming brittle with age.

A note regarding the video: the music you hear is from the small 6” x 9” internal loudspeaker. This speaker is for convenience only, for monitoring and portable playback, so the sound quality is pretty bad. Also, in the demo, the unit is sitting vertically with the speaker facing down.

The player works well and sounds amazing when connected to an amplifier. That is, except for one aspect: towards the end of the tape, the take-up reel seems to be adding too much resistance which causes the tape speed to slow down. I am not sure what the issue is. Someone in the eBay community just messaged me to let me know that the problem I am describing is a dry bearing and that I need to lubricate the capstan motor with the oil from Revox available online. Initially, I suspected one of the 3 motor caps to be the problem.

Cosmetically, the player looks very good for the age. The case is missing the top cover or the lid. Also, the cardboard covers from the side of the chassis are loose and slightly bulged. I have them taped and they look pretty good. The front cover is missing the bottom screw right beneath the 2 VU-meters. The bottom right rear case screw is not original. The other 3 are factory OEM.

This is a very old machine and I am selling it as PARTS ONLY. You can listen to tapes on day one and you will be surprised of how good the player performs and sounds, but please understand the unit will most likely need some attention to get it back to factory spec.
