Antique c19th Samson Porcelain Woman On A Chamber Pot Bonbonniere / Snuff Box.

Cheeky, novelty bonbonniere / snuff box in the form of a woman sitting on a chamber pot.  The woman is wearing a big, white dress decorated with red, gold and green flowers and trimmed in green. She has one hand on her tummy and the other is round the back, holding up her skirt, to reveal the chamber pot.  She has black hair peeking out under a white hat and a green & floral rim around the base. The base (technically the lid) has a floral design painted on it and lifts to reveal a painted butterfly and a horn makers mark on the underside.

This is probably a 19th century copy of an earlier Chantilly design and made by the French company Samson.

The porcelain is in a good condition with no visible damage. The metalwork is most likely copper or brass and the hinge & catch work fine.

I want you to love your purchase so I always try and list any damage I’ve noticed but just in case I miss something, I also include detailed photos taken from all angles, so please check these out.
