On offer, we have a vintage 3-piece suit from Geoffrey Beene. Beene (1924-2004) was one of the finest American fashion designers of the 20th century. Most noted for his technical skills, this is a remarkable example of his work. These are made of 4-ply silk and lined in silk. The only labels are "Geoffrey Beene" because this set was a couture trunk show custom order. It is a size 10. This group includes:
1. His iconic jacket or blazer with the fold over front. The collarless jacket has a bright blue band in front lined in dark green that overlays a yellow and black dotted inset. The color panels have a bit of stiffening inside so they will stay in place, not fold over or sag. It has a single blue covered button with a bound button hole. There are ties to wrap around the waist to further shape the flared jacket. I measure this as approximately a 15 1/2" shoulder, 37" around the bust and a 32" waist. It is 27 1/2" long with 22 1/2" sleeves and the ties are 64" long, they'll wrap around your waist 3 times. These measurements will change if you remove the shoulder pads.
2. A short skirt with no waistband. This does have tags inside "10". "Dry Clean Only" and a Union label. It measures a 29" waist, 40" hip and 19 1/4" long. It has a 6 1/2" back zipper.
3. A pair of full pants with multiple front pleats, front zipper and side pockets. These are 28" around the waist and 45" through the hips. They are 40" long measured from under the 1" waistband and the inseam is 29". They are 19" around the pant hems.
These appear to be in excellent vintage condition. These are occasional fingerprints and slubs in the thick silk. The waistband on the pant has wear at the top. As I am not an expert, please see my photographs for more description.
This set belongs to my friend who is moving to a much smaller home and parting with many of her treasures. These are from her aunt's estate.
I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping when possible.
