~  AUTHENTIC EARLY WESTERN STOCK CERTIFICATE  ~

1881 BRADSHAW MINING COMPANY

Incorporated May 14th, 1881 Under the Laws of the State of New York

Location of Mine, Tombstone District, Arizona Territory (printed to the right & left of the title).

100 share stock certificate issued to company secretary, E. D. Barnes. Shares were worth $10 each. I believe the presidents' signature reads M. P. Shaffer. Mark P. Shaffer operated a mining supply store in Tombstone. I found only bits and pieces of information about the company. It was a silver mine located near the San Pedro River. Ore contained rich chlorides and horn silver, with values of $80 - $100 per ton (in 1880s dollars). Reverse signed by W. W. Shaw and another illegible name (still researching who that might be). Printed by the American Bank Note Co., New York.

It should be noted that this certificate was issued shortly before the famous gunfight on October 26th, 1881, which the lawmen and Doc Holliday killed Tom McLaury, Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton.
