Nice piece.  I tested in several different places to confirm metal content.  It holds true to 14K.  And holds up for just a little bit under 18K.  This is more than likely 15K which was a common standard at the time.  This came out of the San Francisco area.  Most likely it is from the gold rush era in California.  I have seen several similar examples over the years that were confirmed to come from ca. mid-nineteenth century California.

There is a crack in the quartz.  Not sure if that is damage or just the way the stone is.  The crack does not go all the way through which leads me to believe it is probably just how mother nature made it.

The pendant/brooch/pin measures approx. ( 2 3/8" ) 60mm by ( 5/8" ) 16mm east to west. The stone measures approx. 14mm by 10mm. There is a crack in the stone. It does not go all the way across.

It is not hallmarked for gold, but has been tested and verified, weighing in at 6.2 grams.

There are no problems. This item is pre-owned and there will be ordinary and normal use marks.  Comes from a clean, smoke-free home.
