German Naval Guns 1939-1945 - Miroslaw Skwiot - Seaforth Publishing
Superb Volume!
An absolutely magnificent volume from the ever-reliable Seaforth Publishing. For the model maker and historian, this book is a gold mine of excellent information and images. The book was first published as a series of four soft backs by AJ Press of Poland, and this is an updated hardcover version of these titles. Filled to the brim with photos, drawings and computer generated images, it is packed with information. Very highly recommended!!
Here's the official item description:
The superb illustrations contribute very largely to its success. The photographs are supplemented by detailed plans and drawings of the main types of gun and mounting, and by computer - generated illustrations from all angles. These illustrations are in colour and include renderings of the badges mounted prewar on some individually named turrets. This book is essential reading for any student of naval guns, while anyone interested in the wartime German Navy will find a photographic record of the Kriegsmarine which rivals that in any other publication. Those who already have all four parts of the Polish/English bilingual edition may hesitate, but the hardback will certainly outlast them, and for its size the book is very reasonably priced. Here's an Amazon customer review (2012) which gives the book 5/5: The words are NOT my own and are for descriptive purposes only.
I got this on Thursday and have spent quite a bit of time with it, just flies into the hand.
What do you get a very good book in short , illustrations, diagrams , photos and colour plates all clear easy to follow sharp and they show excellent detail. Being a collector of optical gear from WW2 / Kgm / RN this book does provide me with plenty of interesting photos above and beyond the actual primary subject matter. The guns themselves - a great reference guide which fits in well with other books I have and one which I know I will find useful. Still plenty to glean from this book and I know I will keep finding good material in it. Polish work , quality of translation , no problems , very well done, quality of publication good large format , font size is excellent paper quality and binding are 100%. I have to admit I did look at this one for a long time before buying , my only regret is that I didn't buy it earlier. Excellent
