Get M1 For The Road™
Here at 'Get M1 For The Road', we're big fans of ALL things M1 helmet related! Lately we've found ourselves with too many M1 items and not enough free space, so it's time to thin the herd a bit. Our loss is your gain! Up for grabs - right here, right now, right away - is an M1 shell from the late 60's (Vietnam War Era) and a matching liner. Further details are listed below:Details: This helmet is complete, but it's seen better days. Without further adieu, here are all of the details:
IN GENERAL: I've had the liner (hardhat) and shell (lid) for awhile, but I'm trying to trim the fat a bit. The Captain bar decals are NOT military issue. No doubt some kid-iot applied them at some point. Feel free to remove them.
LINER: This one is a green vinyl version of the 'P64' model (but with an orange tint) and is in pretty good overall condition. There's a stamp in the crown which reads "6". This is an incomplete stamp and it SHOULD read "US 6" with the letters above the number. I haven't figured out who the maker of these type of liners was, but the US meant that the Government owned the mold. The liner/suspension is from '69 (hard to see in the pic), the nape strap is from '85, and the headband is from '79 (those last two accessories got replaced often). The biggest flaw of the liner is that the leather needs some conditioner (which I don't have). Also, the 'A' washers and band clips have some corrosion.
