This is a nice Sterling Silver Cigarette Case, which is chased with Acanthus scrolls around a shield shaped cartouche which is engraved with a nice period monogram.
The case is hallmarked with the assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter r for 1916, and the maker's mark for Joseph Gloster Ltd.
Excellent antique condition, with just light scratches and the odd very light ding. The hinge is fine and the case closes flush and tightly. The hallmarks are nice and clear. The interior is a bit dirty and the gilding dull.
The case is 85 mm x 71 mm, and weighs 84 g.
