In 1957 I was 4 years old when these Marx jungle animal figures were first released and they became inseparable from me and today 67 years later as a serious collector of vintage zoo & wild animal toy figures they remain my favorites.   By 1960 this entire playset was created, the Jungle Playset with Large Wild Animals # 3716. The templates of sculpting of these animals have been used multiple times in different scales and material by Marx for their Disneyland jungle figures, Animal Kingdom figures, Ben Hur tiger, as well as other  toy companies.  Offered here is a complete set in accordance with the playset contents checklist from Plastic Figure and Playset Collector in their final issue # 76 with a few additional palm trees and ferns.  All 15 large hollow hard molded plastic animals are included (baby elephant missed the group photo but is included), along with all 6 poses of soft plastic monkeys, a hard plastic molded lake, cave, and 2 rock formations, 6 palms trees (3 different styles) with palm tops, and 6 ferns with bases (2 styles of 3 leaf and 4 leaf).  Take notice that all these animal figures are free of any damage.  Many often listed on ebay have the tips of their tails broken off, especially with the hippo, rhino, and baby elephant. Animal figures in this set include: adult ASIAN ELEPHANT bull, ASIAN ELEPHANT calf, GREATER INDIAN ONE-HORNED RHINOCEROS, HIPPOPOTAMUS, GORILLA, 2 LIONS (in beige & brown), 2 TIGERS (in beige and brown), 2 GIRAFFE (in beige and brown), 2 KANGAROOS (in beige and brown), LESSER KUDU ANTELOPE, and BEAR. The box has a few minor lifted areas of the paper where stickers were once applied (see photos) but does not detract from the graphics and box is sound with original cardboard divider insert.  This set is a timeless certifiable treasure of the best of Marx skilled craftsmanship for jungle / wild animal figures.
I have used extreme care in packing both the contents and the box and there is no avoiding the 8 lb weight or large size of this parcel. After all, the true value of any item is not merely the cost, but what it means to the buyer to receive it undamaged.
