Malvasia (also known as Malvazia) is a group of wine grape varieties grown historically in the Mediterranean and the island of Madeira, but now grown in many of the winemaking regions of the world. This rare Sardinian dessert wine offers nutty, toffee-like properties, with flavors of dried dates, figs, apricots, almonds and burnt sugar, with a mineral backbone. Excellent accompaniment to rich desserts such as coffee cake, chocolate mousse, fruit and nut cake. Try pairing it with rich and creamy Roquefort or Stilton.
