1951 Press Photo Anti-American posters being carried by protesters in Tehran
This is an original press photo. Iran (General). Tehran, Iran. Above is one of the Anti-American posters carried in the big parade of 100,000 workers and peasants. Staged last Tuesday in Tehran by the supposedly outlawed Tudeh party (Communist Party of Iran). The Tudeh now operates under the guise of the "peace movement" and the "organization for the nationalization ..." This banner depicts Uncle Sam being thrown out of Iran. The legend of the banner says that American "junk sellers" import 200,000 tons of preservatives and 1,000,000 dolls, etc., into the country. Today President Truman appealed to Iran Premier Mossadegh to negotiate with Britain on nationalization of the Anglo-Iranian oil fields. Photo measures 9 x 7.25inches. Photo is dated 6-1-1951.
