The Eye of Horus or The Eye of Ra is an Ancient Egyptian symbol of protection and royal power from the Deities Horus or Ra
The ancients believed this symbol of indestructibility would assist in rebirth. The Eye of Horus was found under the twelfth layer of bandages on the mummy of Tutankhamun, the eighteenth dynasty Pharaoh. Horus was the child of the original pair of Gods of Egypt - Isis and Osiris. He was called upon by his mother to destroy her evil brother Set, who slew Osiris, sending him to the underworld. This happened after Osiris succeeded Ra as King of Egypt. After many battles, Horus's eye was removed by Set, and later restored by Thoth (the God of Magic). The eye was then seen as possessing the magical powers of luck.
