Bug Bond UV Cure Resin Kit

This standard kit includes a Multi LED UV Light, Bug Bond Pro Tip Kit and a 20ml bottle of either Bug Bond Original or Bug Bond Lite.

Bug Bond is a new and revolutionary UV Cure resin used as a replacement for normal varnish or adhesives. Commonly used as a coating material on flies, but can also be used during rod manufacture or repair.

With drying times of only a few seconds this new product is causing a storm in the fly tying community!

Bug-Bond is a Multi-Purpose UV Cure Resin which has been put together with the 395nm UV torch in a kit designed primarily for fly tying as an easy to use replacement for epoxy, which can be messy and time consuming. It has been developed for use as a coating and is ideal for coating and doming applications. The optically clear and tack free formulation also makes this product suitable for fly tying, rod building and various other applications.

Bug-Bond (Original-Clear) is supplied with an applicator which allows you to apply small amounts and work this with a bodkin or a wooden tooth pick to get the desired effect on the item and then cure...this can take as little as 5 to 10 seconds. Large amounts of resin in saltwater baitfish patterns can take longer to cure BUT not as long or as inconvenient as using a drying wheel if using two part resins. A great feature of BugBond is that it will not to yellow on exposure to sunlight... in fact strong sunlight will deepen the cure further.

Testing has proved successful with large heads on pike flies, encapsulation of heads and dumbbell eyes on freshwater and saltwater patterns as well as full baitfish bodies, grayling bug backs, epoxy style buzzers and shrimp exoskeletons.

Bug-Bond Lite: A thinner version of bug bond which makes a great alternitive to head cements and varnish. The perfect replacement for epoxy and superglue when making buzzers and small nymphs.

Here is what David Edwards, The man who brought Bug Bond to the UK has to say about it:

"Fly fishing has to be one of the most rewarding methods of fishing for any species. It is the ability to trick a fish into believing that a jumble of old feathers, fur, man made fibre and a bit of flash is the next tasty meal. Whether it is visually an imitation of what theyve been eating courtesy of mother nature or merely a prompt to strike, who knows what the fish thinks.

One of the many materials you will use when tying a fly is an adhesive or a varnish. I dont like using solvent based materials and without any real alternative in the UK I decided to develop an alternative. Over a year down the line and a lot of testing I found the answer I was looking for. The answer is in the shape of a photo-activated acrylic which Ive called Bug-Bond."
