Range Rover Diesel 1994 to 2001
endless cranking when the engines hot
Does your Range Rover have the infamous hot starting problem!
Do you crank the engine for ages before it fires up when the engine is hot!
This
is a very common issue with the BMW (M51) 6 cylinder diesel engine
which is fitted in all diesel Range Rovers [P38] manufactured between
1994 to 2001.
The
cause of this problem is general wear to the diesel distribution pump, a reconditioned pump costs around £1200 and your
local Land Rover dealer would charge you over £1800 including
labor however, we can now offer you a simple do-it-yourself
alternative.
No specialist tools are required and it takes less than 20
minutes to fit. All you have to do is connect 4 wires.
This
unit has been designed specifically for the P38 diesel Range Rover,
manufactured between 1994 & 2001 which is fitted with the BMW (M51) 6
cylinder diesel engine.
BMW and Vauxhall Omega owners
This unit will resolve the hot starting issue on any vehicle fitted with the BMW (M51) diesel engines, this includes the BMW 3 series, BMW 5 series
and the Vauxhall Omega.
Here's a close-up view
In brief, this unit takes the signal from the engine management temperature
sender and routes the signal through a resistor, thus fooling the engine
management system into thinking the engine is cold even when it's hot.
The result is that the glow plugs are heated & the fueling is slightly adjusted enabling easy starting every time the engine is fired-up even when hot.
As
this is a timed relay circuit board the signal is only routed through
the resistor for the first 30 seconds after the ignition is switched on,
after that, the relay is automatically switched off and
everything's back to normal.
Any questions, just ask.
