The Suicide Battalion by James McWilliams and R James Steel.  Hurtig Publishers, Edmonton, 1978. First edition. DJ. Story of the 46th Canadian Infantry Battalion [South Saskatchewan] in the Great War, 1914-18. 5,374 men served in the Battalion. 4,917 were killed or wounded. 226pp, endpaper maps. Time and again the 46th was cut to pieces, and time and again its numbers were brought up to strength with fresh drafts of young men, many of them little more than schoolboys from Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, and even as far afield as New Brunswick and British Columbia. In all, 5,374 men served with the battalion. Of these, 4,917 were either killed or wounded. In telling the story of the 46th Canadian Infantry Battalion from its origins in Moose Jaw in 1914 until its disbandment in 1919. 226 pages. The book is quite clean. The DJ has some edge wear.
