A Frankoma Pottery, Plainsman Prairie Green tray or server (great for serving bread, rolls or quick breads etc. Looks like a small open baker as well. Marked 5Q on the unglazed bottom.
Beautiful blended matte, glaze on heavy pottery. Glaze is smooth to the touch. Color is: Prairie Green, (Green/brown). Measures about 13" long x 6 1/2" at the widest mid point x 1 3/4" deep. Dollar bill used for size reference.
Blended glaze, means no two glazes are ever alike, making each item unique. A few random glazed over little sand grains.. plus, I did note a surface chip to the outside rim as shown (see last photo). Blends in well. No cracks or hairlines.
Marked on the reverse unglazed bottom: Frankoma what looks to be 5Q. Unglazed bottom has a shadowed pattern from firing within the red clay. Clay is nice and red, assume it is Sapulpa Clay (Red) 1955 - Circa.1980
Exact age unknown.
