This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of antique barbed wire fencing.   This wire features a J. Wallace Child's patent, dated September 18, 1883.     This wire is called "Child's Offset Split Diamond Plate Sheet Metal Barb",  by collectors.  (ref. Hagemeier 1101-B).  This wire features two round twisted together line wires.   Barbs are four pointed made from a diamond shaped piece of sheet metal.   Plates are split vertically at each end, with splits offset to one side.  Both sides are clasped towards each other, not rotated on center axis as in the Frentress patent.    The smaller points were supposed to bent together far enough to clasp the line wire.   Wire sample is a minimum of 18" in length.   Wire shows age and use wear with light pitting, and fairly good original galvanizing.  .   There are three barbs,  well spaced and cut is well centered.  There are no bent, broken or missing points.   Wire is in good use condition.    

To facilitate multiple purchases, the photographs may not show the exact wire sample mailed.   The photographs are, however very representative of all of the wire samples in this listing, as regards, length of cut,  number of barbs, barb spacing, centering of cut, weathering and overall condition.
