What is it:  The Standard Land Rover Lamp but LED, yes you read right, the same size, same shape, but LED!


This Kit is For 8 Lamps for Land Rover 90/110 & Defenders 1983 to 1994 this kit has 2 Clear lens Indicators and 2 Amber Lens Indicators to emulate late Defenders!

This kit comes with bullet terminals to convert your old wiring on the old lamp to accept this new L.E.D. lamp, new holes will have to be drilled as the lamp is designed to be fitted to later cars which have 2 screw holes, early ones have 3.

Standard Lamp.  After many years of development and listening to Land Rover owners, we have designed and developed the new RDX L.E.D. Lamp.  This lamp is truly bespoke for Land Rover owners.  We found our customers wanted a standard lamp but L.E.D.  L.E.D. lighting technology is becoming more common on vehicles due to the added benefits they offer. 

We have retained the traditional lens but incorporated crystal surfacing technology to give this little lamp a modern look.  This lamp will look at home on a brand new Defender or just as equally on a Series 3.  We have made this lamp IP67 rated.

This little lamp punches way above its size, no need to upgrade to NAS spec lamps.  The faster light up times of LED over incandescent bulbs can often be the difference between a rear end shunt due reactions of other drivers at speed.  The RDX LED Indicator Standard Lamp also has clear on and off flashing ensuring other road users clearly see the flashing light over an incandescent bulb.  This lamp is Dual voltage, it will equally work on 12 volt vehicles or 24 volt at the same brightness, 24 volt is not common on Land Rovers but we like to offer a solution to Military enthusiasts. 

L.E.D. bulbs do exist however they have many drawbacks.  They are not E marked, when fitted to original Lamps the E marked on the lamp is for an incandescent bulb not an L.E.D. version.  The original lamp will still let water ingress which could potentially cause the L.E.D. bulb to fail.  To ensure consumer confidence and legality we have E marked all the lamps.

We have made this lamp as affordable as we can our nearest competitor is 4 times the price!  The larger NAS size LED versions can be twice the price of our lamp.  This ensures our lamp is widely accepted amongst Land Rover enthusiasts.

Incandescent bulbs suffer from low service life this is shortened when vehicles are used off road due to the vibrations causing the element inside the bulb to fail.  L.E.D.s do not suffer from this resulting in a longer lifespan.  Which reduces service down time.  Questioning from authorities at M.O.T. time and Road side inspections.

The rear of our lamp is ‘flat’ so mud and dirt does not congregate around the back of the lamp.  This brings new opportunities to fit extra lamps or place them in different locations, especially true for serious off road vehicles.

RDX LED Standard Lamp is fully compatible with our RDX Standard Lamp Guard.


We envisage high demand for this little lamp, Every Defender & Series 3 made can have this lamp.  With little modification it can be fitted to other traditional Land Rovers like Series 1, 2, Lightweight and Forward Controls!

Each lamp comes with bullet terminals for retro fitting to pre 1994 cars, 2 new fixing screws, foam backing.

Known problems with original Land Rover lamps:

Not very waterproof due to poor lens bonding or sealing.

Waterproof connector on later models allows water into the lamp!

Why fit load resistors they defeat the whole object of less power.  With our RDX LED Flasher Relay your Defender no longer needs Load Resistors!

A Standard Flasher Relay works on load, this means it is designed to see 21 watts bulbs, when you fit LED lamps or bulbs the Relay can not detect the load as the LED lamp/LED bulb may only use 2 to 3 watts, resulting in fast flashing which is no good to anyone.

So people fitted load resistors to imitate the load of the incandescent bulbs they have just removed, resulting in more wiring, things that get hot, melt anything near them and the best bit you are using more power than a standard bulb set up!

Then came LED Flasher Relays
Many have tried and failed but we haven't!
These often only could handle 30 to 40 watts which is fine for all LED vehicles but as soon as you put a trailer on it would blow or the user would fit the relay with bulbs and blow the LED Flasher Relay.

Some have tried to create a 4 Pin Flasher Relay but they state it might put the trailer light on when you are not pulling a trailer plus it can only handle 40 watts ours can handle 140 watts.

RDX 4 Pin Flasher Relay can handle bulbs, LEDs and a mixture of both on the vehicle it does not care it just gets on with the job!

The RDX 4 Pin Flasher Relay blows others in to the weeds, why as ours is tuneable this means it can be adjusted to suit your vehicle by simply turning the adjustment knob on top of the RDX 4 Pin Flasher Relay.  

MOT law changed resulting in the trailer light must flash when a trailer is connected and the indicators/hazard is used.  The MOT station can now test the towing socket if fitted!
Other Flasher Relays cannot detect a trailer has been connected which is now a requirement.

Now for the OCD ones
Have you noticed when you indicate the trailer light may flash once even when you are not pulling a trailer, well most other normal cars do not put a trailer light on for one flash.  Well ours puts the trailer light when you are actually pulling a trailer.  When you are driving without the trailer and you indicate the little trailer light will not flash. 

The trailer must be using incandescent bulbs or LED lamps with load resistors for the Trailer light to flash.  It cannot detect trailers solely on LED lamps it will make them flash ok but will not flash the trailer light as the extra load is too little to detect. 

The competition still offer load resistors we have moved into 21st century offering you bespoke products especially for Land Rovers because we drive Land Rovers!

The Flasher Relay is in three locations depending on your Land Rover Defender 90/110

Fitting: 1983 to 2001
2.5 NA, Turbodiesel, V8, 200Tdi, 300Tdi, early Td5 (no posh centre console models)

Fit LEDs to vehicle
Remove two knobs securing fusebox cover
Remove fusebox cover
Put hazards on if need locate second from left black relay
Remove relay and say bad relay
Fit RDX 4 Pin Flasher Relay
Turn ignition on, indicate left or right you chose
Turn knob on RDX 4 Pin Flasher Relay until Trailer light is flashing now turn back slowly until trailer light is not flashing.
Turn ignition off
Refit Fusebox cover
Refit two knobs 

Fitting: Later Td5 2001 to 2006 (Posh centre console models)
Fit LEDs to vehicle
Remove 4 screws securing Instrument surround.
Lift Instrument surround up 
Put hazards on if need locate black relay on far right
Remove relay and say bad relay
Fit RDX 4 Pin Flasher Relay
Turn ignition on, indicate left or right you chose
Turn knob on RDX 4 Pin Flasher Relay until Trailer light is flashing now turn back slowly until trailer light is not flashing.
Turn ignition off
Refit Instrument surround
Refit 4 screws

2007 onwards Tdci (2.4 & 2.2)
Fit LEDs to vehicle
Relay is located under dash driver side
Put hazards on if need locate black relay
Remove relay and say bad relay
Fit RDX 4 Pin Flasher Relay
Turn ignition on, indicate left or right you chose
Turn knob on RDX 4 Pin Flasher Relay until Trailer light is flashing now turn back slowly until trailer light is not flashing.
Turn ignition off
