These Magnetic Chess Travel Sets are a great way to pass the time on a long car, train or plane journey. The board game folds away neatly in half with the inside cavity holding all the pieces needed to play. Chess is a great game and is a useful tool in improving problem solving skills. The set comprises 1 x Magnetic Chess board and a full set of miniature chess peices (pawns, bishops, knights etc). The item is packaged in a cardboard sleeve for taking on trips.
The Rules: 2 players required: Each player starts by choosing a colour (black or white). Each player is responsible for their own army made up of different pieces that can move across the board in different directions and number of spaces (depending on the piece). The object of the game is to sucessfully get your opponents king into a position whereby he can not escape the threat of being taken by one of your pieces. This is known as checkmate. During the course of the game you can capture or 'take' your opponents pieces to make them less able to put you in checkmate and harder for them to defend themselves against your attempts at attack.
