You
are looking at an Antique Large Tube Radio. Radio was manufactured by APEX, Marion Indiana in
1925. I don’t know much about this style of
radio. All tubes are in place. Comes with another set of tubes. The cabinet includes a wooden horn. The horn speakers are tested and work, but
the radio is untested. Will sell for
parts or restoration. The radio is around
19.5 inches wide, 9.25 inches deep, 9 inches tall. The cabinet has a lot of wear and age, but
it’s still held in one piece. I can’t
see a mark or name on the radio. I would
greatly appreciate anyone knowledgeable about these radios to shed some light on
this radio.
Antique
Tube Radio. The inside of the radio has
a receipt, which I’m not sure has a purchase relating to the actual radio,
dating back to 1926. Please reference
the photos for more detailed information.
The transformer is from Liberty Audio Frequency. The cabinet is from Cabinet Markers Inc., and
comes with internal wooden horn. The
coil is made from Eastern Coil Corporation.
The tubes are Sunlight Amplifier and Detector Type 201A. The horn is from Holtzer-Cabot. The cabinet is in great condition for its
age, I don’t see any major damage, but there is a lot of aging. I tested the horn speaker, which does
work. The unit as a whole is
untested. I don’t see any marks to
determine the origin of the radio.
There’s another set of tubes, but they are in an unknown condition. All
of the knobs and controls move smoothly.
The radio is about 28 ¾ inches wide, 10 1/2 inches deep, 8 ¾ inches in
height. The radio weighs around 28
pounds.
