Olives are one of the seven “native” fruits with which the land of Israel is blessed. In Deuteronomy 8:8, the definition of a good land is given: such a land is one in which there is sufficient water and wheat, barley, vines (grapevines), fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey.
For a humble fruit, olives have made an indelible impression on the Jewish soul and on the customs and writings of the Jewish people. According to the Bible, olives were cultivated in the land we now call Israel even before the settlement of the Israelites. (Deuteronomy 6:11).
Olives grow in many different places in Israel, and can survive in poor soil that is not hospitable to other types of plants. Olive trees are also very long-lived. There are some olive trees in that are thought to be over 1,000 years old.
Olives and olive branches are an ancient symbol of peace. In Genesis 8:11, a dove brings an olive branch to Noah after the flood. This is a symbol that the waters of the flood are receding and that life is returning to earth. Two olive branches with fruit combined with the seven branched menorah are a symbol of the Estate of Israel and project its hope for peace.
How to grow Olive seeds ?

1-Take a bowl, and lay a thin layer of compost ,then place the olive seeds on top of the compost.
Once the pits/seeds have been placed, use a spray bottle to thoroughly water the contents of the bowl.
2-This step is the germination stage. During this time leave the bowl with the mixture damp, but not sopping wet, in a warm place with a lot of sunlight. This stage may take a few weeks, make sure that the seeds are consistently moist, warm and receiving optimal sunshine.
3-Prepare a pot with sandy, quick draining soil. Once germination is complete, and the seeds are starting to sprout, transplant the seeds promptly into the pot.
4-Initially it is best to keep the plant indoors, even if the climate is warm outdoors. Water the plant and keep it in a warm and sunny place indoors.
5-As the tree begins to grow, prune the lower leaves of the tree as this will help upward growth.
6-Throughout the plants life, it needs to be kept in a warm location, with a good amount of sunlight. Only water the olive tree with the soil in the pot feels dry, and do not over water.
