TREXYJSU-20F*

1991-1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ 20 gallon gas tank sending unit with fuel injection with fuel pump. Includes new gasket. Replaces # 5003861. Designed to fit original fuel tank and MTS replacement tank TREX0065. Does not fit tanks in export models.

There are TWO sending unit options for the 1991-1995 Jeep YJ Wranglers. The buyer must decide if he/she wants/needs a new fuel pump with the sending unit or not. Below is the part # with an explanation:

1. TREXYJSU-20 - 1991-1995 Jeep YJ Wrangler sending unit fits the DOMESTIC 20 gallon OEM tank and the 20 gallon plastic aftermarket tank offered by MTS Co.(#0065) with the rectangle sending unit hole. This sending unit does NOT come with a fuel pump -- Airtex Pump # E8335/TREX30-798. These are the only in-tank fuel pumps that will fit this sending unit for the 1991-1995 Jeep YJ Wrangler.

2. *TREXYJSU-20F - 1991-1995 Jeep YJ Wrangler sending unit fits the DOMESTIC 20 gallon OEM tank and the 20 gallon plastic aftermarket tank offered by MTS Co.(#0065) with the rectangle sending unit hole. This sending unit INCLUDES the fuel pump -- Airtex Pump # E8335/TREX30-798. These are the only in-tank fuel pumps that will fit this sending unit for the 1991-1995 Jeep YJ Wrangler.

--From 1991-1995, Jeep made two versions of the Jeep YJ Wrangler: 1. The domestic model(majority) - meaning Jeep made "X" number of YJ's to be sold in the United States (Domestic) market AND 2. The Export model -- meaning Jeep made "X" number of YJ's to be sold overseas into other markets such as Brazil, Egypt and other foreign countries. The reason this is important: When Jeep didn't sell all the "Export" YJ models overseas, Jeep turned around and sold them to domestic dealerships without informing them of some minor differences throughout the YJ. The fuel system in the "Export" models had a slightly different 20 gallon plastic tank(taller), the sending unit/fuel pump size was slightly different and the skid plates were slightly different to accommodate the tank. Fast forward 20+ years, YJ owners are now replacing tanks, sending units, fuel pumps and skid plates and finding out these little nuisances aren't so little. SO what do you as a YJ owner need to look for: The manufacturer of the aftermarket tank has put an OEM tank part # list together to try and decipher "Domestic" vs. "Export".

Known Domestic model tanks:
52002633
52018287

Known Export model tanks:
52018779
52019226
52007258
52002622

If you have one of the "Export" model YJ's, the fuel pump will be a "fat, stubby" pump with different connections, isolator gasket & wiring. Do NOT purchase the sending unit without the fuel pump. If you have an "Export" model, there is a high probability you will need to replace the tank with the aftermarket domestic model tank to make everything fits back together because no one offers an "Export" model sending unit/tank. And as stated above, a new skid plate might be required. There are no guarantees with the "Export" model YJ's on what will fit and what won't, it's always better to error on the side of caution. I bring attention to this issue not to scare anyone from purchasing the parts needed, but to educate on the possibility this will not directly fit. Of the approx. 685,000 YJ's manufactured, there are relatively few "Export" models still on the road and from what the aftermarket tank manufacturer has learned, they are primarily along the coastal states that would have shipped the YJ's from one of their ports -- East Coast, Texas and California are the common spots to find these "Export" models. Do your best to verify what you have before ordering.

Finally, Jeep only offered one size tank from 1991-1995 -- a plastic tank with a rectangle sending unit hole. Jeep, in some cases, labeled this tank as a 15 gallon tank. It is the same 20 gallon tank, Jeep was forced to follow a government CAFE standard for mpg so in order to accomplish this standard, Jeep inserted a pipe down the filler neck to restrict the tank to 15 gallons. By eliminating the weight of 5 gallons of fuel, Jeep met the CAFE standard. This pipe can be removed and taken back to the 20 gallon capacity. There are multiple You Tube video's showing how to remove the pipe.
