Pair of Sterling Silver Cat Earrings
This beautiful pair of earrings is made from the finest quality .925 sterling silver. They are designed to create the effect of a cute clinging Cat stuck in the ear lobe. Your earrings will be sent in a small, dark coloured, padded cardboard gift box to protect them whilst in transit.
Initially, the post with the cats head and front paws attached should be inserted into the front of the pierced lobe, then thread the body & tail section onto the post at the back of the lobe, finally secure everything in place by pushing the butterfly clasp onto the post. You may notice from the pictures that the body and tail section has 3 holes, these allow you to get the correct drop to allow for the size of lobe and position of the piercing on the lobe.
To give you an idea of scale, the measurement from the tip of the cats ears to the curl in the tail is 29mm when the earrings are at the maximum height.
The
cat totem wisdom tells us about timing in action and courage to explore
the unknown. Those who have the cat as spirit animal may be encouraged
to develop balance between independence and time of togetherness.
Harmonious relationships between light and dark, action and observation
are also attributes of cat spirit.
The cat carries many meanings
revolving around the balance between seemingly opposites, such as inner
and outer, action and rest, light and dark. It’s strongly symbolic of
the connection with what usually hides in darkness or the unknown. The
cat generally represents patience, waiting for the right moment to act;
Independence, yet enjoying social connections; Spirit of adventure and
courage; Deep, relaxed connection with self; Healing from the inside
out; Curiosity, exploration of the unknown or the unconscious.
Cats
seem to go back as far as the human species with more discoveries made
all the time of finding bones of domesticated cats buried with their
human counterparts dated thousands of years even before the Ancient
Egyptian Civilization, which heralded cats as gifts from the gods. Thus
far, such finds have been made in Central and South America indicating
the cat was a part of the Mayan and Inca civilizations.
The
connection between humans and cats dates back nearly 10,000 years. The
first sign of some sort of companionship between a human and a cat can
be dated back over 9,500 years ago. On Cyprus, a grave was excavated in
2004 that contained skeletons of both human and feline origin, and they
were close to each other.
In the ancient Egyptian culture. Many
statues of the Goddess BAST or BASTET are conserved from this time. Bast
is usually depicted in her shape as a sitting cat, sleek and alert. The
Goddess Bast was revered as the protector of the home and the fields,
especially from vermin infestation. In Egyptian mythology she is the
daughter of the Sun God Ra.
But true to a cat's nature, Bast also
had a ferocious side. Sometimes she is portrayed as a woman with a
lioness' head. A true mother fiercely protecting her young. The ancient
Egyptians loved and revered cats. This went so far as to mummify their
bodies after death. Uncountable cat mummies have been found in excavated
graves in Egypt.
The fact that cats are still around and still
part of many individualized belief systems and folklore shows that they
are truly strong animals that can outlast any negative press and a
history of being hated only to rise above all that to remain special in
the hearts of humans. The magic of cats spans the ages though, and these
mystical felines have been the foundation of several different branches
of the supernatural realm over the eons.. |
