I recently picked up a case of thread.....all unused NOS (new old stock) thread. I wasn't exactly sure what the thread was, except for all of the numbers on the sticker at the bottom of each spool. I researched the manufacturer and actually called the phone number I found online for the company. The company name is actually no longer in business, the company was sold to another. Fortunately the gentlemen I spoke with was from the previous company and he knew exactly what I had. He said that it was called : Monocord Nylon Thread. I did a little more research to find out what that was and here is what I found below:
"Monocord is basically a single ply bonded nylon thread. Regular bonded nylon thread has multiple plies, usually 2 or 3 twisted around each other, and bonded together through varying processes. Size for size, monocord averages to be approximately 10 to 14% stronger than bonded nylon thread. It has a flat, ribbon-like texture, and it is not translucent.
It is important to know that monocord is geared for low profile stitching. It normally requires a different machine tension setting from multiple ply, twisted bonded nylon. Monocord is also adaptable to multi-directional sewing and double needle sewing machines."
Please check my other listings for different colors and sizes of spools. This auction is for (1) spool of thread, but I might have additional spools identical to this one listed. If you would like to have more than one spool of thread, please just change the quantity of the item prior to purchase.
