Product Description:

This item for sale is a new-old-stock Suntour XC Comp 7-speed freehub.  This is probably the nicest of the vintage Suntour MTB freehubs we have available. The XC Pro components were generally considered Suntour's top-end for their mountain bike lines, but the XC Comp was right there...and widely considered as another high-end mountain bike groupset of it's era (albeit, one step below XC Pro).  It's an early 90's model with a silver finish and a unique hub body spline pattern that is only compatible with select Suntour cassettes, as discussed in the detailed specifications included below...

  • Hole count: 32H

  • Locknut dimensions: 130 mm

  • Cluster compatibility: 7-speed Accushift cassette (although, refer to discussion that follows for more details)

  • Axle type: hollow type with Suntour branded quick release skewer

  • Weight: 476 grams

  • Other specifications: I see Sansin markings on the non drive-side (cup-n-cone) dust cover, so evidently Suntour used some component pieces from a fellow Japanese bicycle parts company to help with the assembly of these freehubs.  Additionally, for those that want to know the specific hub body length (or said another way...the length of the splines and threaded section on the hub body), we measure them to be 30 mm...and this includes a 4 mm external threaded section.

We have noted above this freehub will accept a Suntour 7-speed Accushift cassette.  More specifically,  it will accept all forms of old stock splined Accushift cassette sprockets (including AP and APII/Powerflo sprockets). Although, please keep in mind this is a Suntour non Micro-Drive freehub. As a result, it is not compatible with the connected double (11T/12T) sprocket lockring that is common with all Micro-Drive cassettes from the early 90's. Instead, this freehub requires the single sprocket lockring that was common with all of Suntour's non Micro-Drive cassettes.

As for condition, these hubs have never been laced, but they do show some shopwear and we do have a Suntour branded skewer for this particular offering (just as pictured...although I do not know if it is a factory match). Listing Update...I only have two (2) of these freehubs left in stock and the one pictured in this listing is the nicer of the two (so it will be the next one to ship). Although, both of them spin a little tight (due to factory dried grease from the many years of storage).

Note to international customers regarding shipping...
We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case.

Note to international customers regarding customs...
We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
