There are many stating sewing machine / knitting machine oil as the same thing, well they are in a way the main difference is sewing machine oil is non scourable since the likley hood of it coming into contact with the material is unlikely. On the other hand knitting machine oil comes into contact with the material ( wool ) therefore it is required to be scourable.
Scourable simply means it can be washed from the material it comes into contact with where non scourabe can not, well not with one wash anyway it would need to be done several times.
Both oils are NON staining and fully synthetic, the grade listed here is most suitable for small to large domestic machines and small to medium commercial machines.
