As is well documented, a huge amount of these labels were discovered in bonded warehouses in Manchester around the early 1980s when the textile industry was in decline. The buildings were being closed down or demolished. A large variety of images were originally produced. Some of these survived in their hundreds and others in single figures. They are brilliant images - perfect for collecting.
They are made of lovely thick paper, not fabric. They were used to visually identify the different types of fabric when it was exported to countries around the world. An outer cloth was wrapped around the bale of fabric and one of these labels would be attached to it.
Good condition - never used.
