Frequently Asked Questions
Why are your hoses more expensive than others sold on eBay? There are hoses being sold on eBay that are being made and sold from Argentina that are not D.O.T. Certified. All you need to do is read the listing and you will see that NO reference is made that the hoses are D.O.T Certified. Hoses used in the USA must be D.O.T Certified to
be Street Legal. But in other Countries that is not required and that is why they are allowed to sell
on eBay. All you need to do is email them and ask for a YES or NO answer to a simple question
"Are your Brake Hoses D.O.T. Certified for use in the USA?" There are also US Sellers that are buying the cheap hoses and reselling them so watch out for those hoses.
Are your hoses D.O.T. Certified? Absolutely! we have been approved and given a registration number by the D.O.T. All brake hoses manufactured with the equipment we use and the components meet or exceed D.O.T FMVSS106 and SAE J1401 standards. Our hoses meet all International Safety Standards and have all the proper labeling on the hoses to pass Vehicle Inspections in any State or Country.
Why should I care if the hoses are D.O.T approved? When a hose has D.O.T. certification it means that the Equipment, Parts and Process all
met the requirements to make a safe hose. Unfortunately there are people selling counterfeit
brake hoses to the public that have not been D.O.T. approved which makes them illegal to
use in the USA. Are you risking your Life and Vehicle with cheap hoses???
How are the hoses identified as being D.O.T Certified? All the hoses we make must have our D.O.T. number crimped into the fitting when made. The hoses are also D.O.T. labeled and date coded per regulations.
So at any time, no matter where our hoses go, they can be traced back to us.
Do you offer any kind of a warranty on your hoses? We have a two year warranty that covers the fittings and crimp for leakage on our
Rubber and Braided Stainless Hoses from the date of purchase. The warranty does not cover hoses because of improper installation that results in hose rubbing or stretch failure.
If I have a problem with a brake hose what do I need to do? All you need to do is contact us by email or phone and we will give you the information
where to send the defective hose. Once it arrives we first make sure it is our hose by the D.O.T. number in the crimp area. It will then be examined and we will contact you on what conclusion
we came to and what we can do resolve the problem.
What about liability?
We carry a $5 Million product liability policy that we must have in order to make and sell brake hoses.
Do you test your hoses? All hoses are pressure tested to 3000 psi, twice the maximum operating pressure of any normal vehicle.
Do you make Custom hoses? Yes, we can make almost any configuration you need to make your Custom or Rod
look great. No need in having a hose that is to long or to short, or a bunch of hodgepodge
adapters to make it fit.
Normally how long does a brake hose last? The average life expectancy of a brake hose is about six years once it is put into service.
Do you make Stainless Steel Braided Hoses? Yes, We can make any hose in either Rubber or Braided Stainless Steel. But the Braided Stainless Steel do cost more to purchase. |
