Dial/Hands New custom Seiko Scuba Diver's Dial in a standout 'Military Camouflage' DPM design (Disruptive Pattern Material), in perfect condition. The Dial is signed 'SEIKO, Automatic' above centre, 'WATER150MRESIST, 17 JEWELS' below centre. 'Made In Japan, 7002 700L R, Lightning Flash Symbol' is at six o'clock. Applied baton markers instead of numbers, larger at 6 and 9, and a larger inverted Arrowhead at 12. There's a 'Quickset' Date window at 3 o'clock. Minute markers run around the raised outer chapter ring, which is also new, in a desert brown colour. It's set at an angle, which lends an impression of extra depth to the Dial.
The hands are new, steel, with an ivory/white luminous fill, in the traditional 7002 Style - an 'Arrowhead' Minutes hand, a 'Broadsword' Hour hand, while the Seconds hand is a white 'needle' with a lumed circle at the tip. I've upgraded the luminous treatment on the hands and markers with a modern compound, they glow nicely after exposure to light. It won't shine all night, but it lasts for a decent spell, which is a nice bonus (typical aftermarket dials don't generally have much 'lume', if any).
Case Large dual-finish stainless steel Diver case in excellent condition, with a Highly-polished finish to the sides, and a Satin-brushed finish to the upper surfaces (I've had this expertly polished and rebrushed, and it has come up beautifully - even up close, I'm struggling to find any marks - there may be some tiny 'hairlines' on the steel finish at worst, certainly no nicks or obvious scratches, and the case edges are crisp and nicely defined).
Bezel Bidirectional steel Bezel, medium resistance, turns smoothly with 60 softly ratcheted 'clicks'. It's original, and in very good condition, with an excellent new ceramic bezel insert, also in the camouflage design, which has a very effective luminous treatment.
Caseback The caseback is in excellent condition, again expertly cleaned and gently polished, with only minor negligible marks. The manufacturer wording on the caseback is clear and legible, and reads as follows: "Seiko, Stainless Steel, 7002-700A A1, Scuba Diver's, 531892, A, Lightning Flash symbol" plus the Seiko 'Wave' logo in the centre.
Movement Seiko 7002A 17 Jewel Automatic movement. I've had the movement professionally serviced and regulated, and the watch is running strong and true. The Serial Number indicates the original manufacturing date as March 1995. New gaskets have been fitted.
Strap A brand new aftermarket Seiko Z22 'Accordion' ridged rubber Diver's strap has been fitted, with a floating keeper, along with a new brushed steel buckle. I've used 'Fat' Seiko Spring Bars, which are a much better fit for these Diver straps, and help to ensure that the case lug holes don't get worn and loose through excessive movement. Will comfortably fit a wrist size of up to 8.5" (220mm+). Some stock photos of the strap as supplied (you can 'click' to enlarge the pictures):
Measurements Width without crown - 42.1mm (45.7mm including crown), Lug to Lug - 45.3mm, depth 13.1mm. Lug Width: 22mm. Weight total 101 grams.
Other - This is a terrific Seiko Diver's Automatic watch, in a large 42.1mm, which wears quite proudly on the wrist as it's a touch over 13mm deep. Even though it's on a Seiko 'Accordion' rubber Diver's strap, it's a weighty 101 grams, and feels solid and well constructed, with a substantial wrist presence. The 17 Jewel Seiko 7002A Automatic movement has been fully serviced and regulated, and is working beautifully, the watch keeps accurate time.
The large dual-finish steel Diver's case has been expertly rebrushed and repolished, and looks excellent.
I've fitted a very smart ceramic and luminous bezel insert, which matches the unusual 'Camouflage' Dial and with the new Chapter Ring, really sets off the design nicely. They go together really well, and add to the iconic Scuba Diver's appearance. I've upgraded the luminous treatment to the hands and markers, and they glow nicely after exposure to light, and it lasts for a little while too. The ceramic bezel insert is also luminous, and very effective!
Though pre-owned, this watch really is in very good condition, with only minimal signs of any use, and has clearly been maintained well. I'll send the winning bidder a downloadable/printable PDF File with the full Seiko instructions, which will show you how to change the date and maintain the watch etc.
