Beautiful Roseville Pottery
Circa 1915 Donatello Pattern
6" Tall Vase with Hanging Loops

For Your Roseville Pottery Collection - DonatelloVase1

Details

  • Description: A most beautiful and rather scarce green and brown colored art pottery tall vase by the Roseville Pottery Company. This vase has two hanging loops at opposite sides at the top of the vase. The pattern shows cherubs in action on brown background in a band near the top that goes all around the exterior of the vase and has green and gray fluting in a perpendicular direction to the band that covers the entire circumference of the vase. Again the piece has small loops at the top of the vase at opposite sides, which we assume is to hang the vase from. The piece is unmarked as is always the case with this early Roseville pattern. It was made in 1915 and designed by Frederick Rhead. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

  • Date: 1915

  • Origin: The piece is part of a large collection purchased from a collector in Southern New Jersey, which we have been and will continue listing over the coming weeks and months. It was of course made in Roseville, Ohio

  • Size: The piece measures ~4 1/4" in diameter on top, ~2 3/4" in diameter at the base, and is ~6 3/8" high to the top of the rim with the loops adding another inch to the height. The piece weighs about one pounds and 7 ounces.

  • Maker: Roseville Pottery Company

  • Marks: Unmarked as it is always the case with this pattern of Roseville pottery.

  • Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a scarce and truly nice piece. Its colors are rich, fresh and vivid and would display very well in your collection.

  • Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no cracks, hairlines, chips, or repairs. The piece has general crazing to the glaze inside and out, which can be seen in the photos. The piece has no losses to the glaze or the coloring. Some of the crazing lines look like cracks or hairlines (see photos). However, we believe these are not cracks since mostly they do not go through to the other side and the piece rings nicely when tapped instead of having a thud if indeed it was cracked. There is also small nicks at the base of the loop, which we show in the sixth photo. These we believe are an artifact of the crazing. Be that as it may, this is a beautiful piece with fresh and vivid colors and no losses after being around for 100 years. A great looking piece which would display nicely in your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
