A GORGEOUS AND RARE 'MADE IN ENGLAND' 1962 17 JEWEL SMITHS ASTRAL TEXTURED DIAL SOLID 9 CARAT GOLD PRESENTATION WRISTWATCH.

CASE:
This fantastic solid 9ct gold snap back case is in EXCELLENT original condition. It has a few various marks as you would expect for its 55 yrs of age. The snap on case back is fully inscribed with a presentation inscription. It is in EXCELLENT condition with no dings and just some light normal wear marks. There are a couple of watchmakers opening marks to the case sides. The lugs are excellent and the case is marked for solid 9ct gold on one side. The inside of the case back is FULLY hallmarked for solid 9ct gold and has the date mark for 1962 (London)The case measures 3.3 cms or 33mm in diameter excluding the crown.

DIAL:
This original Smiths Astral rarer TEXTURED dial is in EXCELLENT original condition. The dial has a few light marks here and there BUT it has not been subject to a value sapping re-dial. It is in all round good original condition. The dial has gold surfaced Arabic quarter hours with baton applied numerals. They only show some very light oxidisation. The matching golden hands are in excellent order. The centre seconds hand has its original 'red arrow' The dial is beautifully signed with the words 'Smiths Astral' to the top, and is also signed 'Made in England' to the dial bottom. The crystal is brand new and as such is in minty condition.This is an absolutely beautiful looker!!!

MOVEMENT:
This beautiful and rare watch is powered by a 17 jewel English manual wind cal 27.CS SMITHS movement. The movement is clean. It is stamped '17 jewels' and 'Made in England' The inside of the case back is marked 'SWC'. The movement is keeping good time as tested over a 24 hour period AND HAS BEEN SERVICED BY MY WATCHMAKER. The watch winds very smoothly with no problems and sets easily. The golden crown is unsigned and is in good condition with a little wear.

BAND:
This is a brand new genuine black leather band with a gold metal buckle. It is in excellent condition and compliments this beautiful Smiths wrist watch superbly.

The box for this beautiful wristwatch is top quality, hand craftsman made and is robust and in lovely condition. When opened it reveals a red velvet interior with black velvet bottom and gilding all along the top edge. It is fully signed 'SMITHS' on the inside of the top and is guaranteed to be THE ORIGINAL box to this item.
